About the Speaker:
Ir Dr Raymond Ho Chung-tai SBS S.B.St.J. JP (Chinese: 何鍾泰, born on March 23, 1939 in Hong Kong with family roots in Shunde, Guangdong) was the member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong (Legco), representing engineering industry in functional constituencies seats during 1998-2012.
He was Hong Kong deputy to the 10th and 11th National People's Congress (NPC) of the People's Republic of China (PRC).
He is currently Chairman of Guangdong Daya Bay Nuclear Plant, LingAo Nuclear Plant Safety Consultative Committee, and Member of the Court of the City University of Hong Kong.
He was also Board Member of the Hong Kong Airport Authority, President of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (1987-1988), Founding Council Chairman of the City University of Hong Kong. In the Legislative Council, he was Chairman of the Public Works Subcommittee, responsible for examining, approving and making recommendations to the Finance Committee on the Government's infrastructure projects worth over HK$700 billion. He also investigated the Lehman Brothers Minibond case, the Chaos at new HK Airport and the Short Piling Incident under the Legislative Council (Powers and Privileges) Ordinance.
Raymond was graduated from the Bachelor of Science in Engineering of the University of Hong Kong, and the Doctor of Philosophy of the City University of London.
